![]() Let’s face it, WWE 2K20 was rough and while it took more than 2 years to develop, 2K has re-emerged with a strong and not only playable wrestling game, but a fun one. This is a re-establishment year for the WWE 2K series. Having those matches available would help to add to the experience. That means WWE 2K22 doesn’t offer Special Referee, Gauntlet Matches, I Quit, Lumberjack Matches, nor the much-requested War Games. The match types available are mostly the same as they have been in recent years. Not allowing me to have access to a Diamond Fandango robs me of the collector mode novelty. It should feel different than a regular match from a ratings standpoint. These modes are about fantasy and alternate realities. ![]() This somewhat defeats the purpose of a collector mode. In WWE 2K22, for some reason, the Superstar takes precedence over the gem stone, thus a Tommaso Ciampa or say, Chad Gable card can never be rated higher than a Roman Reigns or John Cena–even if it is more than one gem stone higher on the table. In most collector modes, Diamond cards are always rated higher than Golds and any other gem stone below it. Still, the mode as currently constructed, is a massive tease to a more complete experience where I get to take my stable and match it up against someone online.Įxpanding the concept is going to lead to microtransactions and increased revenue for 2K, but it will also help this mode reach its potential once it is fully fleshed out. People are hypersensitive about microtransactions and pay-to-win mechanics. I get the logic in keeping MyFaction offline in its first year. This is the smallest of potatoes in my “bad” section, but noticeable enough to mention. Specifically, the characters who weren’t scanned from head to toe are a little problematic.Īlso, there is something weird about the proportions of the torso around armpits. The graphics are mostly strong in WWE 2K, but there are some issues with some of the models. It is tough to imagine why someone would want to play MyGM over Universe mode this year. Unfortunately, the limited amount of matches you can have on a show grouped with a cap on the number of seasons and the absence of any promo presentation makes MyGM a tough sell. Most WWE 2K fans wanted a GM mode, but I’d venture to say none of us wanted an iteration of the concept that felt watered down and somewhat pointless.ĭon’t get me wrong, drafting superstars and managing the show’s budget is great. While MyFaction isn’t in full effect just yet, what 2K has built is the seed for an outstanding mode that might wind up being the most popular way to play the game in a few years.īuilding a faction of stars is fun and not too grindy where it feels like a hassle. I have been waiting on a WWE collector mode in the 2K series and it is finally here. Adding this to the more standard sandbox concept associated with Universe mode was a smart move. If you want to play exclusively as Roman Reigns for an unlimited number of seasons, you can. It is very similar to the old NBA 2K Create-a-Superstar mode. It didn’t get a ton of attention, but the ability to play as any wrestler in the Universe mode is strong. It’s just the right length to keep you satisfied but not eager for it to hurry up and end already. While some fans may have some beef with the matches you get to re-create in Mysterio’s virtual journey, the interpolation of real-life footage and gameplay had me hooked early. WWE 2K Showcase is back and it features cover athlete Rey Mysterio. Quite frankly, we don’t see enough of them. I love historical story modes in sports games. T and more, and the game will round out with a strong roster after all. Add in some solid upcoming DLC like the inclusions of Umaga, Yokozuna, Ronda Rousey, Logan Paul, Mr.
